Polu Manu~See the many manu (birds) meeting in the contemporary version of an ancient idenity of  a metaphore. This painting is more contemporary and illustrates the birds that were an intricate part of the Hawaiian Culture. On the Big Island, families for generations were skilled in ‘plucking’ the small feathers just under the wings to adorn the helmets and capes of the ‘Ali’i.” The birds were never harmed and released to propagate. With the deep shades of hunter green and purple, we are immersed in the density of the forest. Imagine them rising from the forest floor and you will see how they rise to the light.
