This painting evolved from a song sung by the 'Makaha Sons of Ni'ihau' many years ago! The translation means: “turn, let us all turn.”  The blue in the backdrop is the clearest sky blue, accented by the swaying ginger leaves in the fore ground. I hear the melody every time I look at their faces. The inspiration was Hana. As we drove through the forests, I would see the clear blue skies and waving ginger in the dense thickets that are at every curve of the road. The waving ginger is in sync with their hula.
